Haldiram Support & Training

Aspiring Haldiram’s franchisees are required to attend and complete the training programs offered by the company.

The initial training program consists of information regarding the operations of a Haldiram’s franchise outlet. A franchisee is open to designate one key operator to finish off the restaurant training associated with the key operations.

The franchisee of Haldiram’s is required to attend a 3-day training program at the head office of Haldiram’s before the inauguration of the Haldiram’s franchise outlet. In this 3-day training program, knowledge regarding the products, goods, and services will be imparted along with margin and selling skills.

All the required training programs will be held at Haldiram’s designated regional, divisional, or national offices as per the schedule offered by the franchisor.

The training programs will include technical and computer-based training through its learning zone program alongside on-job training at other outlets and written material.

The employee who finished the key operator restaurant training (as mentioned above) will be the one to train employees at the franchise outlet. The franchisor may require the franchisee alongside the staff to attend and complete some additional training courses or ongoing refresher training courses, seminars, and programs assigned by the Haldiram’s representatives.

Beginning of Haldiram’s

Hailing from a Marwari family at Bikaner, Rajasthan, Ganga Bishan Agarwal laid down the esteemed foundations of Haldiram’s. Ganga Bishan Agarwal, also referred to as Haldiram Ji.

Haldiram Ji, dreamt of establishing his empire since he was 11 years old. Haldiram transitioned into the professional realm by working odd jobs in his father’s bhujia shop.

Bhujia was in heavy demand back then, which urged Haldiram to perfect the recipe for it. Every shop sold the same quality of bhujia with the same taste, with the only competition being on the money.

But this never satisfied Haldiram, he wanted to put out something unique in the market under his name. To attain this unique spot in the market, he experimented with different ingredients. After various attempts, he managed to come up with a sort of bhujia that was not known to anyone in the province.

He used gram flour instead of moth beans to make the bhujia crispier, and change the taste. He sold his bhujia at 5 paise per kg instead of 2 paise per kg, which made his bhujia seem premium in the eyes of the consumers.

He also called his bhujia, ‘Dongar Dev’ which was the name of the Bikaner’s king. Haldiram’s Dongar Dev gained immense popularity amongst the masses, and its sale rocketed.

The brand was furthered by Shiv Kishan Agarwal, the grandson of Haldiram ji. Despite the fame in Bikaner and Kolkata, their business struggled in Nagpur. Shiv surveyed and analyzed the entire market in Nagpur and concluded that the residents were not aware of a range of snacks and there was a gap in the sweets market.

Shiv introduced Kaju Katli, one of his favorites to the market, which immediately became a favorite of many others. He managed to increase his sales by 400% in the next 3 years.

The current chairman of Haldiram, Manohar Lal Agarwal furthered the venture, by commencing another outlet in Delhi’s Chandni Chowk.

About Haldiram

Over the course of eight decades, a lot has changed about us. We have relocated, undergone expansion, developed new product lines & added segments, opened retail chains & stores across India, and embraced new markets overseas. One thing hasn’t changed – we’re still a tight-knit family business, committed to serving the most authentic taste of India through our products.

Our origins can be traced back to a small namkeen shop in Bikaner founded by Ganga Bishan Agarwal (Haldiram Ji). This modest shop quickly gained popularity and scaled up to meet a booming demand for its unique-tasting bhujia. Building on this legacy, his grandson, our pioneer Mr. Shiv Kishan Agrawal steered the business towards the heights it has tasted today.

Determined to take bhujia beyond the boundaries of Bikaner, he shifted base to Nagpur in 1970. We opened our first full-production unit to introduce a delectable variety of savouries, sweets, and beverages to the market. The success of this venture led us to expand and evolve as a brand that is an integral part of every Indian household.

From our formative years, he instilled the value of keeping the tradition and quality intact, even as we matured as a company. All our products maintain a consistent sense of simplicity. The ingredients and recipes were picked to accentuate these ideas and are followed to this date. We promise that all our products are natural, wholesome, and have a homemade feel to them.

Although, Haldiram’s is about more than just food. By creating a strong sense of community and supporting our associates, we continue to feel like a true family business. We carry these values with us as we operate together to serve generations of happy connoisseurs across the globe and continue to be the nation’s beloved snack-food company.
